CyberAware: Educating for a Secure Tomorrow 💻
The CyberAware event (Oct 19th) empowered seniors and attendees of all ages with vital cyber awareness skills and insights into cybersecurity careers. Featured speakers included cyber-domain experts, Stephanie Malone, Rosemary Burns, and Walter Houser, discussing important techniques for recognizing and reporting fraudulent and scam events targeted towards older individuals.
A dynamic panel discussion with Code Her Rising's founder Jasmeet Kaur, Teresa Allison, and Garima Gupta provided additional perspectives on navigating the cybersecurity landscape. Attendees participated in a Q&A session and enjoyed networking over lunch, leaving informed and inspired to protect our future and explore opportunities in cybersecurity.
CodeConnect: Empowering Our Community ✨
At this casual end-of-year holiday event (Dec 15th), tech-focused individuals ranging from high school to senior engineers came together and learned tons from each other's journeys within their tech careers. Along with the opportunity to connect, collaborate, and inspire one another, participants enjoyed engaging talks from dynamic speakers, including Sunita P, who shared insightful perspectives on the growing need for a skilled cyber workforce and how policies drive tech innovation, and John Bui, who shared his journey of purposeful vision and collaboration, reminding us that when pursue our vision with purpose, the universe aligns and brings the right people into our lives.
This vibrant event was made possible by the dedication of board members, volunteers, and community partners, as well as sponsorship from Montgomery County. With plans to expand cybersecurity training, mentorship, and community initiatives in 2025, the event celebrated the power of code to strengthen and empower tech communities.
